A community town hall meeting "Rejecting Islamophobia: A community stand against hate" has been scheduled in Dearborn, Michigan Sunday, April 29th in response to the "Jessica Mokdad Human Rights Conference" that Pamela Geller and Robert Spencer are hosting.

The "Town Hall" will at a local at a Hotel (not far from the Human Rights Confrerence) from 1:00 pm - 3:30 pm. The "Jessica Mokdad Human Rights Conference" will be from 5:00 pm - 7:00 pm. Hmmm.....

Guests of the "Town Hall" event speaking out against the Human Rights Conference include: AAI President James Zogby, journalist and blogger Sara Posner, Executive Director of the Council for American-Islamic Relations of Michigan Dawud Walid (but of course), American-Arab Anti-Discrimination Committee of Michigan Director Imad Hamad, Imam Sayed Qazwini, state Rep. Rashida Tlaib and others.

Jessica Mokdad was a beautiful young woman that fell prey to another muslim honor killing in America. Jessica left Minnesota to escape an allegedly physically and mentally abusive muslim stepfather, Rahim Alfatwai. He forced her to wear a traditional head scarf and would not allow her to make the decision of not wearing her hijab on her own. When she stopped wearing the hijab, friends say he became furious. Authorities previously said Alfetlawi was angry because Mokdad left home and wasn't following Islam. In April of 2011, Alfatlawi, drove from Minnesota to her grandmother’s Warren home and shot her in the head.

"Honor killings" have been reported in countries around the world. The Human Rights Commission of Pakistan released its annual report estimating that in 2011 at least 943 women and girls were murdered in familial "honor killings," including 93 minors. According to the report, most of the women were killed by husbands or brothers. "Illicit relations" were cited as a reason for 595 cases, and demanding to marry a partner of their choice was noted in 219 cases.
