He has helped strip language about “radical Islam,” “jihad,” and similar terms from government vernacular, choosing instead to refer to “violent extremism” in an attempt to deny terrorists religious credibility. When it comes to jihad, he stubbornly maintains the word does not belong in conversations about terror, no matter what terrorists themselves say.

Likewise, he also yielded to demands from American Islamists to purge law enforcement and intelligence training material of the terms “jihad” and “radical Islam.”

Hedegaard was charged with racism after he made a series of critical statements about Islam and Muslims that included comparing Islam to Nazism and the claim that Muslims rape their own children. He was cleared of the charges by the High Court in 2011.

The assassination attempt has been linked to the launch of a weekly newspaper, Dispatch International, highly critical of Islam, to which Hedegaard is a contributor. ”He [Hedegaard] has been chairman of the International Free Press Society for 10 years,” Swedish journalist and Hedegaard’s partner, Ingrid Carlqvist, said. “We are sure the attack has everything to do with the weekly newspaper.”

The stories out of London the last week of January have been little covered in the Western press. The appearance of the strange “militia” that has suddenly sprung up there, taking over some of the city’s streets without so much as a by-your-leave to the regular police force, was barely covered in the British press, either. It remained for the “irregular” media of the bloggers and YouTubers to report on this new, “irregular” police force.

When one sees Muslim immigrants to Great Britain trying to impose their culture on the English homeland, one has to wonder: “Are they assimilating?”
